Pixcetera, a website devoted to high-quality photography that was launched last year by AOL, is now available as a free app for iPhone and iPod touch users. Pixcetera the app features professional-quality photos from the news, around the world, and even celebrity events.

By downloading the Pixcetera app to your device, you have instant access to outstanding pictures and photojournalism content. Spanning sources like Reuters, Getty Images, AP, and even personal galleries, Pixcetera was originally designed for a niche audience of photography buffs, but frankly, anyone can appreciate it.

The photo quality of Pixcetera images is top notch. Not only can you view pictures of headline news and events, there is a diversity of images that could inspire any photographer.

For example, on my first launch I viewed a stunning photo of the Santa Barbara wild fires, several poignant images of poverty in Baghdad and around the world, and one adorable photo of a nine-day-old giraffe born in Switzerland.
